Vila Penteado Building (FAU-USP)

Vila Penteado, one of the last remaining Art Nouveau buildings in the city of São Paulo, was designed by Swedish architect Carlos Ekman (1866-1940) and built in 1902 to house two important São Paulo families, Count Antônio Álvares Penteado and his son-in-law, Antônio Prado Junior. It's two houses in one. Donated to USP in 1949, the luxurious two-storey building, with more than 60 rooms, housed the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP) until 1968, when it was transferred to the campus of the university city.
